Augusta Street Pizza
About us
This pizza restaurant in Greenville is the result of family recipes and hands-on cooking: a lifetime spent around flour-dusted counters and simmering sauces. The concept was born from three owners who grew up in Italian households in New York, where they cooked and shared food from scratch regularly. That same mindset shapes the Augusta kitchen today. Roman-style pizza leads the menu, known for its airy interior and crisp bite, alongside housemade pasta and classic subs. Service is quick and efficient, yet the experience stays personal thanks to the team’s daily presence behind the counter.
At Augusta Street Pizza, every slice tells a story.
For founders Nick Castronuovo, Carmelo "Carmine" Curra, and co-owner Peter Lombardo that story begins in the kitchens where they grew up. Small, bustling homes filled with the smell of simmering sauces, the sound of laughter, and recipes passed down for generations.
Born in New York to families with deep Italian roots, Nick, Carmine, and Peter learned early that food is about more than just eating. It's about gathering. It's about love. It's about carrying forward traditions while creating new ones of your own.
Carmine is first-generation American, his mother was born in a small town outside of Naples, Italy, and his father in Calabria, Italy. Nick is second-generation, with grandparents who were born in Naples and Calabria, Italy and brought their traditions, recipes, and values with them when they came to the United States.
"Growing up, I loved watching my Italian-born mother cook. Everything was made from scratch and everything made with love. That's what we're bringing to Greenville."
- Carmine, Founder and Chef
When life brought them to Greenville, they saw an opportunity to share those traditions with their new community. But not just any pizza would do. They wanted to bring something unique: Roman-style pizza, known for its airy crust, crispy edges, and rectangular slices that invite you to try more than one flavor. It's the kind of pizza that makes you slow down, savor, and connect.
And they're not just behind the concept — Nick, Carmine, and Peter are in the restaurant every day, cooking, greeting customers, and making sure every dish and interaction reflects the traditions they grew up with. As full-time owners and chefs, their hands-on approach ensures Augusta Street Pizza feels as personal as the family kitchens that inspired it.
For Nick, Founder and Chef, the magic has always been in the details:
"From the sauces to the pastas, even the broccoli rabe, these are things we watched our mothers, aunts, and grandmothers prepare. Staying true to those roots is everything to us."
At Augusta Street Pizza, you'll find more than just pizza. You'll find sandwiches made with our signature dough, pastas, homemade sauces, rotating flavors of gelato, and specials that reflect the season and the spirit of our kitchen. Every ingredient has a purpose. Every dish is made fresh.
But most of all, you'll find a place to belong. Whether you're grabbing a quick slice, gathering with family, or treating yourself after a long day, we want you to feel at home here.
"Some of my best memories from growing up in Brooklyn are walking into the pizza shop, grabbing a slice and a soda, and just enjoying the moment. That's exactly the kind of experience we want to share with Greenville."
- Peter, Co-Owner
To us, this isn't just pizza.
This is tradition. This is community. This is Augusta Street Pizza.
